As you may know, I am an advisor to a young company in Boston called Segterra. They have developed a web based service – InsideTracker (www.insidetracker.com), which gives health conscious individuals information about their biochemistry so they can optimize their overall health and performance. InsideTracker is unique because it is the only service that incorporates a simple blood test to measure the vitamins and nutrients in your blood, with scientifically supported recommendations that make it easy for anyone to take the right actions to optimize their health and athletic performance. InsideTracker is ideal for people who are looking for more tangible information to drive their nutrition decisions as well as triathletes, marathoners and other endurance athletes striving to improve their overall performance.
As an advisor, Segterra has given me an Invitation Code to share a special discount with my friends. Please check out their website to learn more about InsideTracker and if you try the service, use the code below to save $50. Segterra is interested in growing by word of mouth, so if you know others that would value this service, please feel free to share the Invitation Code with them as well. I am having Maryann work on the IT band for me – she is going to give Diane some suggested exercises for me, and gave me some stretches to do at home which I have been doing. The rotator cuff is just a tweak from the hot tub cover
So I think that will be resolved quickly. But It is amazing how out of whack my body is according to Maryann!! I am signed up for a series of painful sessions – I mean massages – with her over the next 3 weeks so hopefully that will help!
Tracey, I had planned on going, but my son is having his second “last supper” (surgery is tomorrow) so I need to be with him. HOWEVER, sore rotator cuff means NO LIFTING. Seriously, I would not be going to body pump with a sore rotator cuff. You will make it worse. Maryanne did mention the IT Band….when are you going to start the training?
Pooh. ok. I’ll just go and do elliptical and some core work. I HATE this!! I have my next session on Monday.
Anyone know of any fun races for late Winter/early Spring?….I’m feeling lost without any goal on my calendar…maybe a half-marathon?? Thanks!
Hi Sarah,
We are thinking about doing the Hyannis half in Feb.
Diane
Great article on getting your greens this winter…http://www.active.com/nutrition/Articles/How-to-Get-Your-Greens-This-Winter.htm?cmp=300&memberid=113957790&lyrisid=23691326&email=tri4health%40mac.com
A few folks asked about the gluten free crackers at the holiday party – these are them!

All,
Was considering Cranberry olympic next summer and came across this (see below). Basically, it looks like you can get free race insurance if you sign up by 12/31/11. Unfortunately I have an out of town wedding on the 25th and don’t see how I can make it back for the 26th. Don’t suppose anyone has another Olympic distance race suggestion?
“New for 2012, Sun Multisport Events (SME) is offering athletes the Registration Fee Reimbursement service in partnership with 365Competitors. This is an insurance service that allows a participant to receive a 100% refund of the registration fee if he/she is unable to participate in the event due to sickness or injury (subject to terms and conditions). SME will cover the cost of the Registration Fee Reimbursement program for all athletes that register by 12/31/11.” More info is on the event website.
Thanks Michelle! There is Old Colony in July that you can do. It is an Olympic Distance too. Too bad about Cranberry!!
Michelle – I will probably do Old Colony in July – it’s a great, small race and they have an aquabike option!
If you are planning on doing the Patriot half ironman, you should sign up by Dec. 31st. It goes up $20 after that. I am doing it so I am hoping you all want to just say yes!!
Pretty impressive post, thumbs up for the great work.
How to change a tire video. We will practice too…

Happy New Year everyone! Just signed up for Old Colony (olympic) – July 8th. Decided to just take the leap and go for it. Let me know if anyone else signs up for this one. Now just need to get in training mode earlier than last summer since I only started training after July 4th weekend!
Happy New Year and happy 1st day of the winter training program for those of you who hit the pool today!
Michelle – I’ll do Old Colony with you – aqua bike of course!! You’ll do great although we will need to get you out there a few times before July 4th!! LOL!
Tracey and Michelle- I’ll join you for Old Colony! I’m also going to do Holliston on June 10th. It’s a sprint so it would be a great warm up before the Olympic. Anyone else??
Diane – do you know the date of the 2012 Multisport Expo?
Kate, I think the Expo is March 31st.
Yes Barb, that is correct. I’ll be working the team challenge again if anyone wants to create a FitBricks team!
Time for Multisport Expo Team Challenge recruiting. Do 4 of you want to put together a team? Here are the details. Let me know. http://www.active.com/running/cambridge-ma/multisport-world-boston-team-challenge-2012
Just to let you all know… only 7 spots remain in the Aquabike category for the Patriot Half. This will be sold out… like… soon. Sign up if you are thinking about doing it!
Hey all, I’m admitting defeat and getting rid of my rollers. Figured I’d see if anyone was interested in them before throwing them up on craigslist. They are the bike nashbar parabolic rollers (the red ones) used like 2 times. Yeah, I was an idiot! I’m selling them for $80 with the check payable to Dana-Farber. Yep, you get a tax write off for them. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Hello everyone,
I am putting together a Fitbricks team for the Expo. We did this last year and it was a ton of fun! The expo is the best part with plenty of shopping for Tri equipment and you get to check out all the latest gear.
In order to put together a team I need volunteers to do the following:
4-people to swim 300 (indoor)
4-people to run 3m (outdoor)
4-people to bike a 10K (indoor)
Please let me know if you are interested asap so I can sign us up. Feel free to ask your friends or family also if they would like to be a part of our team! Thanks.

Great article! Check it out especially if you are going long this year. http://www.active.com/triathlon/Articles/6-Core-Components-of-Triathlon-Training.htm?cmp=306&memberid=95545266&lyrisid=24099199&email=bbright@keybanccm.com
Hi Lian! Can I join you guys for one of the swim legs at the expo? I’ve never done a relay in a pool before & I’ve been working hard on my stroke this winter. Can’t wait!
just saying hi so i can get the postings by email again!
Hey Lian I will run if you need someone to run
Lian, I haven’t swam in about 3 months, run super slow, and am ok at biking, but can fill a spot if you’d like. If not, I make a super awesome cheerleader! Can’t wait to see a bunch of you at Hyannis.
Thanks for all that are willing to do the multisport! I still need about 5 more people. Also if you have said yes just let me know your event preference and I will do my best to accomadate.
Lian, I’ll do the bike at multi-sport if you still have a spot open.
Hey Everyone,
We have two new tri members who are looking for road bikes. If anyone has an extra bike, knows someone with a bike or has one they are looking to sell please let us know. Saundra is ~5’2″ tall and Jim J is ~6’0″ tall. Thanks!
I am not sure if Saundra will fit into my “throwaway” road bike, but if she does, I am willing to for sure unload it.
Just leaving a comment to get the e-mails again too. I told Lian I am in for the swim at the Expo!
Oh, yeah,
I signed up for the Patriot half Aqua-Bike too! Going to be there with Barb anyway, might as well have some fun too!
I have a road bike that might fit Saundra.
Great, thanks Leslie! We’ll tell her to contact you.
Anyone want a number to run Boston this year and can’t find one? 15-40 has two numbers. If anyone is interested and wants to learn more about the commitment or has questions, please reach out to Tricia Laursen. 508-713-0654 or tricia.laursen@15-40.org. I’m just the messenger, I don’t have details.
Hi! Everyone! Not sure u will remember me from last years Tri winter program or not……but I am planning on participating in Diane’s spring program this year. Last yr I wanted to start a getting heathy dinner club with the group. I have spoken about this to Kate and Diane. Who would be interested in joining in. I would love to hear from you guys. You can also contact me at northstar13@comcast.net. I’ll be waiting to hear what you think! Miss you guys! Oh, I would also like to join in on any outside activities as well….I like snow shoeing etc….. Could use some socialization and fun! Thanks ~Judy
Hi Judy,
). Talk to you soon, Barbara
Nice to hear from you and look forward to seeing you this Spring/Summer. The healthy eating club sounds great it just is a matter of time. Let me know when and I’ll see what I can do. But really glad you’ll be back to train with us (often that is the socialization I get
Hi,
Just catching up on the happenings with FitBrick members. I feel so out of touch not being in the winter program. Keeping busy with biking and swimming. Still no running – my left knee is giving me trouble. Since I’m not sure if I can run, I start looking for aquabike events. The Patriot half is full. What other aquabike events are there? Thanks. Annmarie
Hi Annmarie – old colony has an Olympic aquabike. Pumpkinman has a half iron aqua bike. I’ve done both. Supposedly cranberry is having an aquabike division this year too. I think Mary said that Firm events always offer aquabikes at Oly and up distances but it’s not always advertised until you are checking out during registration. I am planning on Old Colony and Cranberry aquabikes this year. Happy to have company!!
Thanks Tracey. I will look into both.
It was my understanding that if we were signed up for the Cranberry last year, we’d get a discount this year. What does anyone know about that? Would I be able to use it towards an aquabike race instead of the Olympic race distance?
Annmarie, I responded via email. Couldn’t post the confidential code here. You all should have received an email from me regarding this discussion on the Cranberry credit from last year.
Hi Annmarie! I miss our locker room chats. I love the idea of the Cranberry Aquabike!
I registered for the Patriot half aquabike. Gulp! Nervous about the swim, but excited too. I also registered for Old Colony. Haven’t signed up for Cranberry yet. I’ve got lots of swimming to do…
Kate miss you too. I need a good Kate story.
Benefits of pool running! Great article. Thanks for sharing Rebecca. http://www.vancourier.com/news/Pool+running+paves+fitness/6083399/story.html
Thanks Barbara and Diane for leading a great spin class tonight!
You’re welcome Kate! Have to love it when Diane comes around and turns up your tension!!!
I think that’s Diane’s new “game” now….turning up the tension and smiling widely as we sweat profusely haha
Markryan you learn quickly! And she has a number of “tricks” up her sleeves!! It is so much fun!!!
A friend is looking to purchase a used road bike. If anyone has one they’d like to sell, please let me know. (She’s 5′ 6″). Thanks!
