It’s a mantra that helps put you in the best mindset for racing.
1. Focus on YOU (not anyone else),
2. Focus on you, RIGHT NOW (not yesterday, not tomorrow, not the part of the race already done, not the part of the race yet to come),
3. Focus on you, right now, DOING WELL (not on what is going wrong or could go wrong, but on what is going well),
4. Focus on you, right now, doing well, and HAVING FUN (not on what may stink like some drafting going on, a bad section of road).
By focus on you, the present moment, on being positive about what is going well for, and on having fun, you send all the best signals to your body to swim, ride, and run your best.
Shifting away from this focus always causes anxiety, tension, and pressure which all impedes your ability to swim, ride, and run your best.
