Cliff Bar Peanut Butter Recall

Voluntary Recall

On January 19, 2009, we announced a voluntary recall of 14 U.S and 4 Canadian products including CLIF Bar, CLIF Builder’s, CLIF MOJO, CLIF Kid Organic ZBaR and LUNA Bar, in the U.S. and Canada because the peanut butter in those products was sourced, for a limited period of time, from the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA is a manufacturer and supplier of peanut butter for many food companies and manufacturers.

PCA is under investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a recent Salmonella outbreak thought to be caused by tainted peanut butter. In light of this investigation, and with an abundance of caution, Clif Bar & Company has enacted a voluntary recall. We take the health and safety of our consumers very seriously.

In the U.S, the following 14 products are included in the recall. Only bars with wrappers that have the following BEST BY or SELL BY codes1 on them, in all sizes and packages, are being recalled:

Oatmeal Kitchen Sink Pancakes

I’ve been asked for the recipe for my oatmeal pancakes.  You’ll see that they have everything in them that you need for a post workout meal, or a few hours before a workout.  I hope you enjoy them.  Warning, they have NO sugar in them.  The thought is that with pure maple syrup, you don’t need the sugar :-)

But, feel free to add some sugar if you don’t use syrup.

Oatmeal Kitchen Sink Pancakes

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups Uncooked Old-Fashioned Oatmeal

1 tsp Baking Powder

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 Cup Rice Milk with Vanilla OR 1 Cup Skim Milk

1 Cup Frozen Blueberries OR 3 Bananas

1 Cup Nuts Of Your Choice

1/4 Cup Ground Flax Seed

6 Eggs or 1 Cup Egg Whites

Beat eggs until they are frothy.

Mix all ingredients together in a food processor. If you like chunkier pancakes, you can leave the nuts out, or grind them a little first, then mix them in by hand after all of the other ingredients are processed.

You may need to add some water to get the consistency you want.

Make pancakes, flip, and eat :-)

For those of you who missed the swim workout yesterday, the main set is what you should focus on.  I will post what I did for w/u and c/d, but if you can’t do that many yards, focus on the main set.  Let me know if you have any questions.
