Trade shows and IM training do not mix

Oh for the love of God.  My feet are KILLING me!  I am in Vegas this week at a trade show.  I have to work all day standing on hard floors in HEELS!  I’m seriously thinking about getting some new shoes when I’m here.  Apparently there is no padding left in the ones I  am wearing.  Not to mention I have to walk about a mile every day to the show and back.  I really need to make sure I roll on my tennis ball to stretch out my feet so I don’t get plantar fasciitis this week.  Had that last week and do not want to get that again!

Thank goodness it’s a rest week while I’m here.  I haven’t been able to train too much, but it’s about resting this week.  Not to mention, it is very hot here.  I ran 30min this am after early con calls and before I had to be at the show and it was enough….  Tomorrow I swim with Mike so that will feel good….Off to get some shoes and have dinner with IMFL Mike and his wife.

Toodles..

Aerosoles – they make really fashionable, but comfortable high heels! Either that or Naturalizer – but I have a harder time finding styles I like from them.

I hope the rest of your conference goes well.

Oh – I want an explanation on this stretching the feet on a tennis ball…my feet tend to get tight after running.

Hi Gretchen, thanks for the shoe advice! I think these shoes are just broken down. They WERE comfortable at the last show I was at (it was a year ago though!).

I roll the bottom of my feet over a tennis or golf ball on that tendon on the bottom of my foot. The other stretch is to squat all the way down (butt off the floor) on your toes. This kills, but helps to stretch out the toes.

Hi, Diane!
Hope you’re having a good time in Vegas, in spite of the trade show whoa’s. I do a lot of trade shows/fairs for work, and I have found that Clarks and Born’s are excellent- comfort & style are important for your feet, but also your back- well, maybe not the style part :) Anyway, any excuse to buy shoes is good for me! Good luck!
Laura ;)
